About Kevin James

British actor Kevin James has appeared in various roles on stage, film, television and radio. His theatre work includes such diverse credits as Touchstone/Oliver in As You Like It, Pierre Lannes in the Marguerite Duras thriller A Place Without Doors, the UK premiere of Michel Marc Bouchard's drama Lilies, Soren Lorenson in Charlie And Lola's Best Bestest Play, and a critically acclaimed London revival of The Laramie Project which received five star reviews and played to sell-out houses.

Other theatre credits include the national tours of Tess Of The D’Urbervilles, Babe The Sheep-Pig, Henry V, Charlotte’s Web, and The Sagas Of Noggin The Nog; the world premiere of the musical Sunsets And Mornings; Father Nandru And The Wolves and The Sting at Wilton's Music Hall, and I Am Star Trek at the Edinburgh Festival.

In pantomime, Kevin has performed in various comic guises in productions of Aladdin, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, Jack And The Beanstalk, Dick Whittington, Beauty And The Beast and Snow White at theatres across the country.

Film work includes John Godber's Last Laugh, Spooky Electric, The Executioner in Old Sparky, A Dark Story Of Love, Robin in the neo-noir thriller A Morass, and as the leading role in the psychological horror Chain for which he received the Best Actor award at TMFF (The Monthly Film Festival) and a nomination for Best Performance at the Yellow Fever Indie Film Festival.

On the small screen he featured as Robert Cecil in the documentary drama Elizabeth I's Secret Agents which was nominated for a BAFTA and won the Royal Television Society's History award. He has also appeared in numerous commercials for companies such as Hershey's, QuickBooks, Marks & Spencer, HSBC, Go Compare, and Tele2.

Voice work includes the classic serial The Hireling on BBC Radio 4, as well as assorted detectives, a nature trail of historical characters, and Oscar And Petra (an animated monkey and parrot) for Televirtual. He has also performed in The Mystery Of The Tolling Bell - a Sherlock Holmes adventure for blind and visually impaired audiences.

As well as acting, Kevin also works in many other areas of the performing arts.

His credits as a lighting designer include the UK premiere of Lilies and the London premiere of the hit off-Broadway musical Zanna, Don't! for Wild Oats Productions; Singin' In The Rain for Cork Opera House; the national tours of Heaven Eyes, Salome, Le Moulin Magique and I'm A Minger!; and for British Touring Shakespeare he lit their London seasons of Henry V, Romeo And Juliet, Twelfth Night and Hamlet.

Other production roles include Technical Stage Manager on Around The World In 80 Minutes and Sherlock Holmes: The Speckled Band for Theatre Sans Frontieres; Out Of Our Heads for the Actors Touring Company; Production Electrician on Como Agua Para Chocolate and Here Be Monsters; and in various technical roles on Horrid Henry - Live And Horrid! on national tour and in the West End for Watershed Productions. Kevin also works regularly in the technical department at London's Bush Theatre.

As a writer, Kevin has written scripts and songs for pantomimes and cabaret, and original plays for younger theatregoers including The Great Christmas Sleigh Ride and The Great Christmas Cake Off.

Kevin is a member of entertainment union Equity.
